DUI Evaluation

Often time’s individuals may find themselves “caught up” in situations that they just did not foresee happening just like a DUI. Those situations could involve going out with co-workers after work, for drinks and being pulled over by the police, or celebrating a friend’s birthday at the bar and getting pulled over for falling asleep at the light, whatever the situation may be, it was something that you just did not plan to happen.  After being arrested, spending some time in jail, and paying fines, you are court-ordered to have a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) Evaluation.

What do you do next and what does that really mean?

A Better Life Treatment can assist you with your needs. A Better Life Treatment has qualified clinical staff who will complete a thorough DUI Evaluation.  In the state of Georgia, if you have been charged with a DUI, you must have a substance abuse evaluation by an approved Evaluator through the DUI Intervention Program. The DUI evaluation is the time when the Evaluator gathers all information to make an objective recommendation.  A detailed interview is completed gathering substance use history, criminal history, driving records and any prior arrest history.  During the DUI evaluation, a urinalysis is also completed.  After the assessment, a treatment recommendation will follow.  The treatment recommendation may vary depending on the outcome of the evaluation.  Recommendations could be attending NA/AA support groups, individual counseling, attending and completing substance abuse groups, outpatient treatment to inpatient residential treatment.  No matter the outcome, you will be expected to follow through with all recommendations.

Maintaining an intimate relationship requires work from both individuals involved

Maintaining an intimate relationship requires work from both individuals involved. Typical stressors can be magnified when the couple identifies as gay and a same-sex couple may prefer to seek gay couples counseling to have their specific needs met.  An LGBTQ+ affirmative counselor specializes in providing individual, relationship, gay couples counseling, and group therapy for individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and/or pansexual. While most, if not all, couples could benefit from a counselor, sometimes the specific guidance and support of gay couples counseling is imperative to restoring the health of a particular relationship.
